People hated the New Math irrationally, too. People just fear change and fear not understanding their second graders’ homework. It’s one of the reasons we have so much trouble making real improvements in our educational system. “The way we did it in my day worked fine for me! Of course math is hard and I hate it, so does everyone! It should be hard, that’s how you know you’re learning!”
